2002: Lacking Government Oversight--Enron Rips off Ratepayers throughout the West.
2008:Lacking Government Oversight--Big Banks and Wall Street Brokers drag the USA into a Deep Recession.
2010:Lacking Government Oversight--BP causes a disastrous oil spill decimating America’s Gulf Coast.
And what worries Tea Party Folks?Save us from Big Government they are saying!
The above conditions, and many more, lacked Government Oversight in the last 10 years. Not to mention in 1987, our Government did away with the Small Business Administration, promoted tariffs that favored the very rich. Big Business as a result vacated the country, and small businesses folded, right at the time when 50% of the country was employed by small business. Way to go U.S. Government. We are now at a threshold-- whereas; business and jobs conducted overseas, assist foreign countries in the job markets and industry building, leaving America as a skeletal empty frame. Never mind the bailouts, never mind the re-up bailouts for the second time, Never mind the phony loans making (Bankers) people richer, Never mind CEO`s and Staff stealing the corporate stockholders blind and ruining business across this continent. Never mind wall street and the top greedy.Just do this: keep Americans split-up with non-issues like the crippled unions which have no effect on anything, abortion laws that have nothing to do with the economy, gun control laws, environmental issues. This way we (The American People) can be split up and argue these elements, therefore allowing them (The Congress and Executive branches) to do it to us all over again; or at least continue on their agenda making the rich and powerful more rich and powerful---business as usual. At the same time making the majority in America weaker and more vulnerable.
Posted Date: 10/11/2011 Well said. The issue in the presidential campaigh are a red herring. Forget medicare and social security, forget abortion, gay marriage and the EPA. These do not matter in regard to what we do today!! The Federal Government should not worry about what goes on in our bedrooms, religion should stay in the churches and if we let corporations go unregulated, we will be in wars forever. If you are stupid, you will pay attention to these issues being debated. If you are smart, you will hold your choice accountable to real issues. By: Larry
Posted Date: 10/11/2011 I am a lifelong Repub but if we keep voting for republicans this corporate greed will continue. Repubs want to distract us with talk of abortion, gays, social security when billions upon billions is given away to foreign countries, unjust wars, corporate bigwigs and repub pork. Voters should ignore wacko's like Bachmann and Perry and force candidates to make serious tough cuts (10%) across the board and get real. By: Ken
