Police Blotter - April 21-27, 2013

The following incidents were taken, in part, from the Mesquite Police blotter for the week of April 21-27, 2013. All persons mentioned in these incidents should be considered innocent until proven guilty by the court.

4/21: Officers responded to an apartment complex reference a property damage report. Officers spoke with the complainant, who stated damage was caused to the hot tub and pool bathroom by several young adults. Officers located the suspects, and determined one adult male had caused the damage. The adult male was cited and released with a court date.

4/21: Officers responded to a residence regarding a verbal dispute between cohabitants. Officers stayed on scene to keep the peace between the two cohabitants, until one of the persons involved was able to leave for the night.

4/21: Officers responded to a neighborhood, reference a possible burglary incident. The complainant reported a male suspect had attempted to enter a locked vehicle. Officers located the suspect nearby and arrested him for breach of peace and tampering with a motor vehicle.

4/21: Officers were dispatched to a domestic disturbance at a residence. Officers arrived and gathered information from both parties involved. Officers determined the incident was a verbal dispute with some minor property damage. Both parties agreed to stay separated for the night.

4/22: Police conducted a traffic stop. During the traffic stop possible stolen items were retrieved. Investigation is ongoing.

4/22: An officer responded to a local trailer park in reference to hazardous waste being dumped into a garbage can. The officer determined it was just oil rags and two oil filters. The person allegedly responsible, responded to the garbage cans and cleaned up the leaking oil.

4/22: Officers responded to a report of graffiti. Photographs were taken and an investigation has begun.

4/22: An officer made contact with a subject complaining about a stolen credit card. This is an ongoing investigation.

4/22: Officers responded to an apartment to investigate a theft report. Officers conducted a search of the apartment reference the theft, and observed evidence of drug activity inside the apartment. A male and female were arrested for possession of methamphetamines and drug paraphernalia.

4/22: Detectives were requested to follow-up on a welfare check due to an abandoned vehicle found in the Kolob, UT area.

4/22: One white adult female inmate fell inside the Mesquite Municipal Courtroom, hitting her head on the floor. Mesquite Fire/Rescue responded and transported female to the Mesa View Hospital for treatment.

4/22: Officers made contact with a suspicious person in the parking lot of a grocery store. Officers observed evidence of drug activity. The driver and passenger of the vehicle were arrested for interstate commerce drugs, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

4/22: Police responded to a casino to investigate a person accused of selling drugs. Investigation resulted in one person being arrested for possession of a controlled substance and another for trespassing.

4/22: Officers conducted an investigative stop on several juveniles who had been drinking alcohol. Six juveniles were issued citations for minor consumption. Two minor adults were arrested for minor consumption of alcohol.

4/23: Officers responded to the Oasis Resort, reference a suspicious belligerent male refusing to leave the property. Officers contacted the male who refused to obey officer's commands. The male was arrested for breach of peace and obstructing a peace officer.

4/23: An officer is investigating possible embezzlement from a company. This complaint is under investigation.

4/23: Officers responded on a call for a traffic collision involving two motor vehicles in the roundabout at the I-15 120 under pass. No injuries. Vehicles driven away by owners.

4/23: An officer responded to the lobby of the Mesquite Justice Facility reference a report of a domestic battery. The officer spoke to the mother and daughter involved, and an officer's report was completed.

4/23: Officers responded to a local

residence for a disturbance. A suspect from a previous incident was located at the location.

4/23: Police were called to a parking lot for an intoxicated male attempting to drive after trying to fill a prescription. The male was located, the investigation resulted in his arrest for possessing drugs and drug paraphernalia.

4/23: Animal Control Officer was dispatched to a local address to assist Mesquite Police Officer with a canine impound. Canine was transported to the Mesquite Animal Shelter for housing.

4/23: Officers responded to an apartment complex, reference a battery. Officers contacted two adult males and several witnesses who observed a physical altercation. One of the males was issued a citation for battery.

4/23: Officers responded to a residence, reference a domestic incident. Officers contacted a female and later contacted a male at a different location. Officers determined a domestic battery occurred and the male was arrested.

4/23: An officer stopped a vehicle on I-15 for an equipment violation. The officer observed drug paraphernalia items in plain view in the vehicle. The driver was cited and released for possession of drug paraphernalia.

4/24: Officers responded to a fight in progress at a casino. Once on scene, officers discovered the fight was a domestic battery issue between family members. Officers discovered a battery did occur. Officers arrested two females for battery domestic violence and one male on an arrest warrant.

4/25: Officers were dispatched to a public street in front of a local store, in reference to a traffic accident involving a motorcycle. Mesquite medical personnel were also dispatched to the scene.

A motorcyclist, driving a motorcycle pulling a trailer and carrying a passenger, lost control of the motorcycle, after swerving to avoid an unidentified vehicle that crossed the road in front of him. The driver and passenger, on the motorcycle, were both injured, when the motorcycle fell on it's side and skidded for over 100 feet before crashing into the median.

Two independent witnesses stated they saw the motorcyclist speeding well over the speed limit, before swerving to avoid the unidentified vehicle. Both the driver and the passenger of the motorcycle were transported to a local hospital for their injuries.

4/25: An officer was dispatched to a local casino/hotel, in reference to a fraud call. The casino's security had surveillance video footage of an unidentified male obtaining money, from the hotel clerk, under false pretenses.

4/26: Officers responded to local residences for a report of delivered packages that had been stolen. Through investigation subject was taken into custody and some of the items had been located, documented and returned to the owners.

4/26: Officer recovered a mountain bike, and is currently attempting to locate the lawful owner.

4/26: Officers responded to the area of the south round-a-bout for a report of a overturned trailer. Officers conduct an accident investigation and the driver was issued a citation.

4/26: Officer responded to a local Casino, reference a report of Credit Card Fraud. Officer received all information relating to the alleged fraud and an investigation into the matter has been started.

4/26: Officer responded to a local residence, reference theft of a Fed-Ex package. Officers located and arrested the subject involved with the theft. The Fed-Ex package was returned to the lawful owner.

4/26: Officer responded to the parking lot of a local casino, reference theft from a motor vehicle. Officers are currently attempting to locate the suspects involved with the theft.

4/27: Officer responded to a residence, reference a possible domestic situation, involving a brother and sister. After interviewing all involved parties, the brother was arrested for Domestic violence.

4/27: Officers arrested a male for indecent exposure.

4/27: Officers responded to Mesquite Boulevard reference a hit and run accident. An officer's report was completed and both drivers were issued citations. A standard records check of a male passenger showed he had an active arrest warrant out of Mesquite Municipal Court, and he was arrested on the warrant.
