"We've got a lot of fire-fighting aircraft flying today," Larry Lemeiux told the Mesquite Citizen Journal on Wednesday, July 25, about the Mesquite Municipal Airport. And, indeed they did with four helicopters, two of them Sikorsky Sky Cranes, three Single Engine Air Tanker (SEAT) planes, and another plane dropping smoke-jumper crews from Boise, ID.
All of
the wildfires the crews are fighting are in southern Utah and southern Nevada, none in the immediate Mesquite area.
"The southern Utah fire is 21 nautical miles from here, or about 30 miles," Lemeiux said.
Another fire is burning in southern Lincoln County, about 20 miles east of Alamo, NV. It's approximately 7,000 acres with expected containment today, July 26.
