Tucked amid the food displays along the aisles of WalMart on Saturday, July 21, were organizations with loads of information and some freebies for Mesquite Senior citizens. Called "Senior Extravaganza" the event was a chance for Seniors to learn about programs and benefits they could use to help make themselves healthier, more comfortable, and safer.
"We had pretty good success with our first event. We've had a lot of people show up," Tera Clotts, WalMart Assistant Manager, said Saturday morning. "We're going to do another one of these in February and start a little earlier in the morning time."
Seniors received health information, free blood pressure checks, free vision screening, financial and insurance information, presentations about reverse mortgages, savings plans, fraud, cataracts and vision care, and food and drink samples throughout the day.
Silver Rider Transit provided free rides to the event for senior citizens who made reservations.
