Another action-packed event invades the CasaBlanca Event Center Aug. 18 with the Tuff-N-Uff Mayhem in Mesquite Mixed Martial Arts showdown.

With about a dozen matches scheduled, the event is expected to attract both male and female competitors, according to Barry Meyer of Tuff-N-Uff Productions. The card is expected to include three hours of non-stop action.

“In the main event, we have an undefeated heavyweight named Charles Williams, who is about 350 pounds,” said Meyer, who has lived in Las Vegas for five years since moving from San Diego. “He is fighting a tough opponent named Jeremy Umland, who weighs about 290 pounds and is coming to Mesquite all the way from Verndale, Minn.”

However, while the showdown between Williams and Umland will be a real blockbuster, there promises to be even more action throughout the night during a show that starts at 6 p.m.

“We also have several MMA bouts featuring women,” said Meyer. “We will have a minimum of two-to-three women’s bouts on the Mayhem in Mesquite card.

“Women put up as

much of a fight as many of the men who compete in MMA competition,” said Meyer, 41. “For instance, we have a girl named Cortney Casey from Mesa, Ariz., who is unbelievable.

“Cortney has a record of 3-1 and is facing Jillian Justice Lybarger of Scottsdale, Ariz., who has been fighting since October of 2009. It should be an interesting match-up and there is reportedly bad blood between the two of them. This fight could be a real war that the fans will really appreciate considering the level of talent that the females bring to the event.”

Meyer said Mayhem in Mesquite marks the second time that MMA competition has been featured in the CasaBlanca Event Center.

“About three years ago, Randy Couture brought a Tuff-N-Uff MMA event to the CasaBlanca and it drew pretty well,” said Meyer. “I co-promoted the event with Randy and explored the opportunity to bring Tuff-N-Uff back to Mesquite.”

Meyer said fighters would come from various areas including St. George, Las Vegas, Mesa and Scottsdale, Ariz., Riverside, Calif., and Lake Forest, Calif.

Tickets will be priced from $20-$45. Further information can be found by calling 800-585-3737 or by visiting www.tuffnuff.com.
