Let's start this is my lil brother wouldn't have thought he do this. Mpd ok good job. But there is more to story about him, he's done wonderful things for that lil town. Everyone has flaws/messed up. It's the recovering stage of his life. He will bounce back I have 100% faith in him.

Thank you Travis for the comments. It would be an interesting story to get the other side of this story and see what someone else has to say about it.

It would be a good story if someone like Travis would talk about how this could happen in a small town. If it was a drug thing maybe the cops could have the arrested guys tell them all about drugs in Mesquite and not just arrest them and forget it. Wesley Mcclain can't talk but maybe a story from Travis would be a real look at crime and cops in Mesquite. And what about the guy from VVWD is he getting a free ride? Seems like VVWD is full of crooks, what is up with that place? What is the real story behind these crimes?

Great job mpd!it was just a matter of time and these cases are not easy. What concerns me is the behavior of the sun city hoa during these robberies. Sydney Young and Quincy Edwards still do not have an alert policy in place for future breakins and these 2 clowns owe the people whom they insulted and belittled and were rude to an apology. and where is there policy? well if these 2 sit down and try to figure it out our dues will probably go up-that is there stanard answer for any problem. We can only hope the hoa is replaced with fresh ,new people. AND THE HOA SHOWS THE RESIDENTS RESPECT!

For Clarification: Douglas & Don - there was only one person involved in the burglaries - Wesley McClain. The picture included in the article is McClain. He was an employee at the Water District - the only free ride he got was to the Clark County Detention Center.

This article makes Wes look like a monster. As a good friend of the family I agree with Travis, I am dissapointed but Wes is a good person. He has been a great friend, an amazing father and good husband. He has a solid support group and he will bounce back. He made a mistake but he should not be made to look like a monster.

I have to agree with scm enforcer- Sydney young was very rude and hot-headed with my neighbor that was broken into on one of the break-ins. Sydney did not believe him, said she had to check it out,and put out an alert a day later! that does a lot of good. and yes, there still is no policy in place by Sydney to send an alert out for future incidents. Sydney always has to ''CHECK IT OUT'', and a day or 2 later an alert goes out. this pulte community certainly does things a bit different than the other 2 pulte communities i have lived in-and not for the better! and yes,i believe SYDNEY YOUNG is one of the big problems up here! on the upside-THANK YOU MESQUITE POLICE DEPARTMENT-JOB WELL DONE!

Might be a good idea to look at this in more depth. Unless this guy just moved here in January, why the sudden rash of burglaries? Somethings fishy.

I normally don't weigh in on news stories. However, the following has to be said: 1 - McClain's brother, Travis, states that Wesley has done "wonderful things for this town." Like what? 2 - Natasha states the MCJ portraits Wesley as a "monster." No, Natasha. Wesley himself is a monster. The news story states that these robberies have been going on for months, since January 2012 (that's at least 6 months worth of investigations). How can an alleged thief be a "good person?" The only place Wesley will be bouncing back is to prison - once you are on a stealing-spree, what's going to make you stop cold turkey? If you steal once or twice without getting caught and not have a guilty conscience, what's going to stop you from doing it again? Sooner or later, Wesley's accomplice(s) will be caught as well. Well done, MPD. Thanks Barb for keeping us informed! Shame on you, thieves.

I hope there is more to this story than this little blurb, it doesn't make sense. If this was a drug problem, did the police recover the loot? is there a drug dealer in town taking stolen property? Who are the accomplices? How can VVWD hire someone without checking his record or is this suddenly a first offense. Something really doesn't add up. There are two dies to every story, this is kind of one, what is the other??????

Wesley's recent actions have deeply hurt our family, but Wesley is far from a monster. He is a loving, caring person that would give you the shirt off his back. Substance abuse can strike any one at anytime like my family and I have now learned. Instead of posting negative comments about a situation you cannot possibly understand please instead take the time to go secure any medications you may have so that NO ONE can easily access them; not even your dearest, closest family members. We love you Wesley.

Thi is a complete breach of trust by an EMPLOYEE OF THE VV WATER DISTRICT. Out there every reading the meters, Using his job as a cover to see what he could steal from the RATE PAYERS. VIRGIN VALLEY WATER manager, wake up, start random drug testing and back ground checks on your employees, that are to be serving the public. IF Wesley McClain has a drug habbit, gambling habbit or what ever, SHAME ON HIM., He will bounce back in time, but not before spending some time out at High Desert, at Indian Springs, with the rest of the VV Water District Cooks.

A thief is not a nice guy, he invaded someone's homes, violated their safe place, and took items that were not his to take. He put fear in the same community he supposedly has done good works for. Nice guys know right from wrong. If this is about drug abuse, then why hasn't his family and friends been assisting this nice guy get some help before he scared a community with home break ins? A nice guy, I do not think so, just ask the folks who's houses he broke into.

I hope this paper covers the REAL story. This guy gets arrested while others from the VVWD still walk free like Mike Winters who stole millions. How about John Lonetti? How about disgraced Cecil Leavitt, he got out of town real fast. What happened to him? My bet is Wesley could tell you lots of dirt on VVWD and what goes on there. You want to crucify a guy with a drug problem and send him to prison while the big money guys still roam free. Come on newspaper editor, fair is fair.

HOA ENFORCER, scm enforcer, scm senior you’re all the same and you have it out for Sydney Young. We get it and stop acting like a petulant child. Man-up and set up a direct meeting instead of backdoor attempts at character assassination. That’s the way you solve problems, unless you only want to complain and continue sending up ineffective Smoke Signals from home if you catch my drift.

This guy should get a fair trial but what of the other shady characters that nothing happened to-Mike Winters, Boomer Johnson, Cecil Leavitt, and those million dollar ripoffs like Randy Ence library deal, the "police palace" property deal, the construction company contracts with VVWD and we haven't even got to contracts with the power company yet. One guy got millions in illegal deals with VVWD now wants to open a Italian restaurant on Mesquite Bulevard- really! Keep it in perspective, if he did it, it's wrong but so are those other ripoffs.

Some of you slay me!! Blaming the PD for doing their job just because they arrested a supposed nice guy! Give me a break people. Good question. Where was the family of this "nice guy" when he has a supposed drug problem they obviously knew about? Never mind that an elderly man who lost his wife 3 wks ago had to now deal with his house being burglarized. If this was a gangbanger ya'll would want a public hanging. How much longer might it have been begore the drug problem escalated this "nice guy" to hurt someone or maybe killing them . Its a common tale. Research it people. I am glad he was finally caught. Now i can sleep a little better at night knowing this idiot is behind bars and my kids are safe til the next idiot tries the same thing. . Several of those burglaries were in my area. The family I feel for you BUT, crap happens and obviously you wanted to turn a blind eye to the fact there was a problem. Dont blame the PD for doing their job! Look in the mirror and at your family member. He IS THE BAD GUY NOT OUR COPS?

Npbpdy is blaming the PD for anything. They did a good job. It is the fact that the real "white collar" crooks who steal millions and pretend they are good citizens are getting away with it. Everyone appreciates the good work of the PD.

Does anyone else find it alarming that so many senior citizens in SCM have a lack of spelling skills? Either that or it's one buffoon posting as 12 different people. Either way, it is pretty obvious the school systems in the mid west sucked.

Wesley McClain has not changed, just because he got caught and is drying out in the Jail system. Wes needs to pay all of his victims back, ADMIT TO WHAT HE HAS DONE and SERVE SOME TIME. BURGLARIES CREATE LASTING ANXIETY Authoritie will say it's not necessarily the value of the property that's been stolen during a burglary that causes homeowners trepidation. Instead, it's the anxiety and fear they are left with afterward. In that sense, WES stole more than valuables from his victims, He stole the feeling of safety a home provide.

Fedup-I am a scm resident and I think the majority of the people in scm are fed up with SYDNEY YOUNG! Her inept and erratic attempts of enforcement Are frankly a joke. Your attitude and demeanor toward people are very unprofessional. I would venture to say that IFthe residents Had a say or vote up here in sun city you would be packing your bags pretty fast. But we do not,you were shoved down our throats by pulse, and we can only wish for your departure. Your handling of the robberies were truly inept. In an attempt to protect pulse and sales your alerts to the community were a day late and a dollar short. And I know several people that were put off by your doubting they were even robbed, and we're very rude to them. THAT SAID,YOUR HOA STILL HAS NO ALERT POLICY PUT IN PLACE. although you do not seem to like the other postings here about scm ,I believe they hit it pretty much on the head. Like I said, too bad us residents do not have a vote on officers for the HOA-I would be driving you to the airport!
