The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Elko District Office, Tuscarora Field Office released a preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) on a proposed pipeline in North Elko County for public review until July 13, 2012.
Prospector Pipeline Company has proposed constructing an approximate 24-mile, 8-12 inch natural gas pipeline from the Ruby Valley Pipeline at a main line valve near Willow Creek Reservoir to the mill at Barrick Goldstrike. The proposed pipeline does not traverse any wild horse herd management areas.
The EA analyzes the impacts of constructing and operating an underground natural gas pipeline on public and private lands located in Elko and Eureka Counties. The proposed pipeline right-of-way would be 80-feet wide on public lands and 75-feet wide on private lands during construction, and 30-feet wide and 15-feet wide, respectively, after construction is complete.
