Gold Butte Race Discounts Expire Soon
Posting Date: 06/12/2012

Press Release

Early-Bird Discounts Expire 6/30 for Gold Butte Days Half-Marathon and 5K Races

Even though Gold Butte Days isn't till October, registration for the Gold Butte Days Run is already open. On Saturday, October 13, Gold Butte Days will feature both Half-Marathon and 5K races. The races start on South Yucca, between the Mesquite City Hall and Mesquite Chamber of Commerce at 8:00am.

Runners are encouraged to sign up by July 1 for the early-early discount. Friends and families can receive an additional discount by combining three or more entry forms during registration. To sign up, just go to www.goldbuttedaysfestival.com/activities/gold-butte-days-half-marathon-5k. Mail-in entry forms are also available at your favorite fitness centers, physical therapy offices, sporting goods stores and gyms throughout Mesquite, and the St. George Running Store.

The 5K follows a flat-fast circuit on pavement, while

the Half-Marathon is scenic and challenging, mixing flat, fast pavement in-town with rolling pavement, dirt and gravel south of the Virgin River, giving runners “a taste of Gold Butte” on the bajada of the Virgin Mountains.

Prizes created by local artists will be awarded to the first place male and female in each race, and all finishers will receive a special edition Gold Butte Days medallion. All runners will also receive a t-shirt unless they opt-out. To keep things clean and green, the race will be cup-free. Runners should bring their own water bottles.

Gold Butte Days is sponsored by the Mesquite Chamber of Commerce, Friends of Gold Butte, and the Virgin Valley Artists Association. In partnership with Gold Butte Days, the race will be presented by Mesquite's Mesquitos on the Run running club. Mesquitos on the Run has regular Saturday morning group runs for runners of all levels. To learn more, visit www.mesquitosontherun.com.
