What should be the outcome of the current IRS scandal in which certain tax-exempt groups were targeted for further review?

Someone should be fired
Someone should go to jail
Nothing, it was an honest mistake

Photo & Art Contests Kick off Gold Butte Days Promotion
Posting Date: 06/06/2012

Linda Faas, President, VVAA

Entry Deadline Changed

Photographers and artists have an opportunity to win cash and fame with their best representation of beautiful Gold Butte. The Mesquite Chamber of Commerce is spearheading plans for a fall festival event in Mesquite. A street festival will be staged Oct. 12-13 in downtown Mesquite, attracting both locals and tourists, and helping local businesses benefit from increased October traffic. Artist and vendor booths, food vendors, a beer garden, and nonstop entertainment are planned.

Mesquite’s proximity to the expansive public lands of Gold Butte makes it a natural stop for visitors who need to stock up on food, gas, and camping supplies before they head out to enjoy their great outdoor adventures. By establishing itself as the Gateway to Gold Butte, Mesquite can increase prospects for added shoppers and overnight guests.

Virgin Valley Artists Association is sponsoring a pair of contests to encourage photographers and artists to submit their best efforts in picturing beauties of Gold Butte. A cash prize of $100 and a Gold Ribbon will go to the best photo and the best artistic interpretation of landscape, flora, fauna, or people of Gold Butte and Mesquite surroundings. Winning entries may be used in a promotional poster or other advertising for the event.

All rules for the contests can be found online at www.goldbuttedaysfestival.com, or at VVAA’s website, www.mesquitefineartscenter.com. There is no entry fee, and up to four entries may be submitted by a photographer or artist.

To allow adequate time to prepare entries, a previously stated deadline has been moved to July 14. Submit photos and artwork using contest entry form. All entries must be received by SATURDAY, JULY 14 to be considered.

Stop by the Mesquite Chamber of Commerce Gold Butte Information Center or the Mesquite Fine Arts Gallery for more information. Give it your best shot!
