John Anthony Zappia, 70, passed away May 10, 2012, in Mesquite, Nevada. He was born October 23, 1941 in Los Angeles, California to Rocco and Anna (Ellise) Zappia. John married Mary Pineda in Los Angeles, CA on November 14, 1970.

John grew up in Los Angeles, CA. He enjoyed sports but loved his Dodgers. He retired to Mesquite, NV in 2004.

John is survived by his wife, two sons, Rocco Zappia of Mesquite, NV; Joseph Zappia of Burbank, CA, and daughter, Anna Zappia of New York City, NY. He also leaves 5 brothers Dominic Zappia of Mesquite, NV; Marco (Carole) Zappia of Ventura, CA; Valentino (Paulette) Zappia of Las Vegas, NV; Tony (Linda) Zappia of Las Vegas, NV; Rocco

(Linda) Zappia of La Crescenta, CA, and 5 sisters Theresa (Gilbert) Azevedo of Las Vegas, NV; Josephine Schoenhoff of Palm Springs, CA; Betty Bitcon of Las Vegas, NV; Christine (John) Fitch of Cherry Valley, CA; Ramona Myers of Las Vegas, NV. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Paul Zappia.

A Rosary will be held Monday, May 14, 2012 at Virgin Valley Mortuary, 320 E Old Mill Rd, Mesquite, NV at 6:00 p.m. A Rosary will also be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at the La Virgen de Guadalupe Catholic Church, 401 Canyon Crest Blvd, at 11:30 a.m and Mass at 12:00 p.m. Burial will take place in the Mesquite City Cemetery Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at 12:00 p.m. The family invites you to leave a message or memory in our "Memorial Guest Book" at www.virginvalleymortuary.com
