It had all the makings of an old-fashioned fun celebration of the local heritage wrapped with present day life as Mesquite celebrated its annual march into summer over the weekend.
From the Historical Society's Bake-Off on Wednesday to the Mayor's Pancake Breakfast and Mesquite Days Parade on Saturday, thousands turned out to rejoice in the fun and festivities.
Mayor Mark Wier was joined by Mesquite City Councilmen Al
Litman, Geno Withelder, Kraig Hafen, and George Rapson, as they flipped pancakes and roasted sausage links to help raise funds to support the Mesquite Chamber of Commerce. Plenty of politicians were on hand to meet and greet local residents as they enjoyed the cool morning air. It was just a warm-up to the squeals of delight coming from the throngs of people lined along Mesquite Boulevard for the annual parade.
The celebration continued through the day and evening at the Carnival and Cinco de Mayo festivities next to the Mesquite Recreation Center.
Relive the celebration through the video and slideshow below of Saturday's Parade and the Pancake Breakfast.
