Mesquite Memorial Day Services Announced

First Baptist Church Serves the Community
Posting Date: 05/04/2012

By Pastor Bill Stevenson

The First Baptist Church of Mesquite parishioners are reaching out to others with the love of Jesus by doing community service projects that will serve others. Everyone was excited that the 40 Days in the Word study program that we all just completed both led us to a better understanding of the Bible but had also given us a desire to better serve our community.

We had 21 small groups that committed to complete local community projects. One group collected loads of baby stuff to give to new mothers at Mesa View Hospital. As they delivered them to the OB department you could hear the excitement and joy in the volunteer’s voices. “This was soooo much fun,” said Gina Smith. The nurses at the hospital, Pattie and Kathleen, agreed and were very excited and very appreciative as you can see by the smiles on their faces in the pictures.

Another small group made Gift Baskets of Appreciation and delivered them to Highland Manor,

Mesa View Hospital, and Hospice Care.

All the volunteers wanted to put into practice the lessons God is teaching us in Scripture and that we learned in the 40 Days of the Word program. Therefore all 21 small groups have been working and completing community projects to put God’s word into practice. If we want our lives to be blessed we must become “doers of the word”.

I think all the participants discovered that having fun serving others through was an exciting program. By participating we got to know our community better and felt we made a difference.

If you’d like to join us in one of our community projects or come see what we are all about why don’t you give us a visit? You’ll find us friendly and inviting.

Our services are held at the First Baptist Church located at 700 Hardy Way, Mesquite. Sunday worship services are at 8:00AM and 10:45AM. A discussion group is held at 6:00 pm. on Sunday.

For more information or to request prayer call 702-346-7061 or visit our website at www.fbcmesquite.com. We look forward to meeting you and sharing God’s Word.
