Posting Date: 04/30/2012

Amy Gomez Carney, 79, of Mesquite, Nevada, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 25, 2012.

Amy was born January 31, 1933 in Redlands, California to Thomas Garcia and Angela Peralta Gomez.

Amy attended Randsbury High School in Randsbury, California. She left school in 1951 without graduating, a decision she always regretted. After leaving school she met her first husband Ernie Reyes, they were married in California in 1952. Amy and Ernie had two children, Victoria Ann and Fransisco Thomas. The marriage didn’t last and they later divorced in 1955. She later met and fell in love with William A. Carney. After dating a few months the couple eloped to a small town just

over the Mexican border where they were married. Amy and Bill’s life was blessed with three more children, Eddy, Turtle, and Annette.

Amy is survived by her children, Victoria Ann Carney, Thomas Edward (Eddy) Carney, Robert (Turtle) Carney and Annette C. Douglas; twelve grandchildren with one on the way, and unknown number of great grandchildren; Sister Terry (Ceaser), Helen, Irene (Ruben), Margaret, Tom (Debbie), several nephew’s and nieces.

Amy is preceded in death by her parents, brother Albert, son Frank, grandson Roy, and her son-in-law Kelly Douglas.

No funeral services are scheduled at this time. Interment will be in the Mesquite City Cemetery in Mesquite, NV. Amy’s wishes for no flowers or services will be honored by her children. The family invites you to leave a message or memory in our "Memorial Guestbook" at www.virginvalleymortuary.com.
