The Mesquite Senior Games Pickleball Tournament concluded last week, on Wednesday, Apr. 25. The event has continued to grow year to year. This year there were 121 registered players from ten states. The furthest away came to Mesquite from Madison, SD. Participants ranged in age from 50 to 81 years old. The events included Women's Singles, Men's Singles, Women's Doubles, Men's Doubles, and Mixed Doubles. The games were played on the Sun City Mesquite Pickleball courts.
Pickleball is a fun game that is played on a badminton court with the net lowered to 34 inches at the center. It is played with a perforated plastic ball (similar to a whiffle ball) and wood or composite paddles. It is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players.
