The old lament that there's nothing to do in Mesquite has been proven wrong by two business partners, Cindi Delaney and Blake Syndergaard. The entrepreneurs have also answered a long-standing complaint in Mesquite about multiple, confusing calendars by creating a new online service that consolidates everything into one convenient, free location.

"As we pondered the solution to the two dilemmas, we started to understand," Delaney explained.

"If you tried to put everything from all the different Mesquite calendars on one calendar, the pages would be so full it would become like trying to find the proverbial needle in a haystack. There’s a lot to do in Mesquite."

The Mesquixote Communications business partners created a consolidated community calendar available through this Web link: http://mesquitenvcommunitycalendar.com

Mesquixote Communications, a Mesquite marketing company, also publishes the Discover Mesquite monthly tour guide.

“There’s not just one calendar for Mesquite. To find out anything people have to search many different calendars and then they conflict with each other or are just plain wrong,” Syndergaard commented.

"So we decided to gather together all of the calendars we could find and put them in a format where you’d only have to go to one place to find what you wanted. No more trying to remember multiple websites and then trying to remember the

dates," he added.

The new community calendar is neatly separated by menus for user convenience. Whether you are looking for church services or a comedy club, service clubs or support groups, you can find all the information you need in one convenient location..

Users can customize the calendar to fit their needs. Delaney explains that, "If you’d like to customize your own calendar all you need is a “Google” calendar account. They are easy to set up and they’re free. Most people probably already have one. If you have a Gmail email address you already have a “Google” account, although a Gmail account is not required."

"Whenever you find an item you’re interested in, just click on it, and a popup box will appear. Then click on the spot where it says add to my calendar. That event will be added to the “Google” calendar of your choice," she said.

"If you would like to add all the information of an entire calendar to your personal “Google” calendar click on the “+ Google Calendar” icon on the lower right corner."

To submit information to the Mesquite Community Calendar, email it to calendar@discovermesquitenv.com.

Include your complete contact information and the contact information of the group you represent to verify the submittal. All submissions are free.

NOT actually a calendar . . just a very slow graphic slide-show . . with no index! Leaves a lot to be desired, as compared to conventional calendar layouts with text links.
