Oasis Men Golfers Team Up for Net Competition
Posting Date: 04/25/2012

Terry Donnelly

Teams of Oasis men golfers struck out on the Canyons course on Monday, April 23 and matched up against each other and the course. The club members played as three man teams and the challenge was to go low, counting the two best net scores from each hole.

Eight players had good individual rounds. Jerry Ransdell, the newly crowned over all club champion due to his 36-hole match play win over runner-up Kevin Parrish, was the day’s medalist. His 71 proved to be best of the day. Brian Bergman and Marty Conway matched 74s and John Brewer shot 76. Jim Austin, Duke Belville, Jim Bowman, and Doug Reed all broke 80 with 79s.

The team captained by Bergman and filled out by Mike Carpenter and Larry Striker took top honors in first flight with a team net score of 124. That number represents a score of 18 under

par.

The Conway led team of Dan Kershaw and Rich Heintzelman tied with Austin’s team of Mickey Zanoni and Chuck Endres for a second place tie with 126s. The Belville led team of Eddie Webb and Kent Epeneter shot 127 for a fourth place finish.

Captain Max Fratto, Ron Flentye, and Maynard Yost found themselves on top of second flight with a score of 117–a whopping 25 strokes under par.

Alan Pancost led his teammates, Ed Hutchins and Bob Ostlund, who contributed his score as a blind partner, to a second place finish with a 121. Fearless leader Dick Wilson, playing with Ostlund and Terry Hutchins finished third with a 126 score.

Ransdell and Reed each won two first flight skins. Austin, Bergman, Brewer, and Epeneter each won one.

Bob Cuschleg and Mark Haas were awarded the only two second flight skins.

Tom Stolte took home the closest-to-the-pin award on hole #7.
