On Saturday, Mar. 31, Mesquite turned up the heat for the 2K/5K/10K Run/Walk put on by Crossfit 212 Degrees and the Mesquitos on the Run running club. The event kicked off at 8:00 a.m. as temperatures were already making their way into the 70's. Forty-one participants of all ages and sizes, including four-legged ones, turned out to take on the challenge.

The race began and ended at the Crossfit 212 Degrees facility on 140 Riverside Road. The 2K route followed a loop around town, while the 5 and 10K headed south on Riverside and up White Rock Road. As the racers finished up, they were greeted with a ringing cowbell and treated to a healthy buckwheat pancake breakfast.

There were no awards for placement, just the personal satisfaction of completion, no matter how long the distance. The participants included:
