Headliners Coming to Mesquite’s Seventh Annual Roundup

Russ Westwood, local director of Mesquite's Seventh Annual Roundup, announces that nationally recognized Stan Corliss, from Hillsboro, Oregon will be the featured emcee and performer on Feb. 22 and 23, at The Mesquite Community Theatre at 150 Yucca St. The Friday performance will begin at 7:00 PM, with a matinee performance at 1:00 PM on Saturday.

Corliss has forty years experience with Western music. His first album “Westerner” in 1997 was nominated by the Academy of Western Artists for Album of the Year. His video “60 Years of Harmony “ won the prestigious Will Rogers award for best film on a Western subject.

He wrote, produced and directed this tribute to the 60th anniversary of the Sons of the Pioneers, the last concert by Roy Rogers. The Western Music Association nominated Corliss for best song and songwriter of the year in 1999. His first novel “The Linerider: Reckoning,” was published in 2012.

Also making an appearance will be Rebecca Dunne, Miss Wilderness Circuit Queen, of Las Vegas. She is a barrel racer and represents Utah, Idaho and Nevada in her travels. Dunne is a flag carrier for the Annual Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.

Chloe’ Louise Powell, Miss Helldorado Rodeo Las Vegas, will represent the Western Lifestyle. Her passion is horseback riding and she encourages everyone to embrace their Western Heritage.

In addition to this talent, returning are the Mesquite Strings ‘n Things Western Band, the Mesquite Toes Clogging Tap Team, the Mesquite Show Girls and eight local and some not so local cowboy poets, performing and reciting their unique variety of poems and stories.

Box Office Tickets are $10.00 and available at the door one hour before the show and will be good for door prizes. You can also buy tickets 4 to 7 PM on Friday nights and 9 to 12 Noon on Saturdays. Other ticket locations are: Crazy for Hair, Klasik Kloset, Mesquite Fine Arts Center and the Mesquite Chamber of Commerce.
