Sun City Mesquite Plans Armed Forces Day Celebration

Sun City Mesquite will celebrate Armed Forces Day this Saturday, May 19, beginning at 7:00 am in and around its main clubhouse.

According to Cliff Jenkins, President of the Mesquite Veteran's Center, Sun City Mesquite will provide a barbeque with hamburgers, cole slaw, chips, and soda for $6 per person.

"We'll officially kick things off with an Honor Guard Presentation of Colors at 7:45 am. It's an all day event with all net proceeds benefiting the Mesquite Veterans Center," Jenkins explained.

A tennis tournament begins at 7:00 am, followed by a Bocce Ball tournament, putting tournament, and a billiards tournament, all in the morning. The barbeque lunch, catered by the 1880 Grille, will be served from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Another putting tournament follows that. Sun City Sounds is scheduled for 1:30 pm with Bingo beginning at 2:00 pm.

Each event requires a paid fee to participate. All participants must be 21 years of age.
