If Sue Arko ever decided to leave the travel and tourism business and move from her home in Gilbert Ariz., she might consider moving to Mesquite.
After all the energetic native of Elkhart, Ind.,. spends enough time in this city about 80 miles north of Las Vegas anyway bringing entertainment and visitors. With the fourth annual Elvis Rocks Mesquite scheduled June 21-22 in the showroom of the CasaBlanca Resort, Arko is spearheading an event that combines nostalgia with fascinating entertainment.

Everyone lined up in single file to wait for instructions from the team leader in preparation for the assault on the mountain pass. They checked and double checked their equipment and made sure everything was in order for safety reasons. No one would be left behind on this run.
At 9:30 a.m., they prepared to move out. Like a benevolent drill sergeant, team leader Jill Williams checked everyone and then gave the order to mount up. She would be the first to go.
So, began my Friday morning ATV trail ride with the Eureka Casino's first annual Off Road Weekend, Feb 22. I signed up for the Steam Engine Run in the hills just outside of Mesquite. My wife, Linda, would be my co-pilot.
