If Sue Arko ever decided to leave the travel and tourism business and move from her home in Gilbert Ariz., she might consider moving to Mesquite.

After all the energetic native of Elkhart, Ind.,. spends enough time in this city about 80 miles north of Las Vegas anyway bringing entertainment and visitors. HISTORIC FREESTYLE MOTOCROSS AND ENDUROCROSS NITRO CIRCUS RACE BRINGS DRAMATIC END TO INAUGURAL MESQUITE OFF-ROAD WEEKEND

The world-renowned Nitro Circus crew has left the building, so to speak, and Mesquite, will never be the same.

The masterminds behind Mesquite Off-Road Weekend were Nitro Circus Co-Founder Gregg Godfrey, Edge PowerSports Founder Bryan Green, and Eureka Casino Resort COO Andre Carrier.

Everyone lined up in single file to wait for instructions from the team leader in preparation for the assault on the mountain pass. They checked and double checked their equipment and made sure everything was in order for safety reasons. No one would be left behind on this run.

At 9:30 a.m., they prepared to move out. Like a benevolent drill sergeant, team leader Jill Williams checked everyone and then gave the order to mount up. She would be the first to go.

So, began my Friday morning ATV trail ride with the Eureka Casino's first annual Off Road Weekend, Feb 22. I signed up for the Steam Engine Run in the hills just outside of Mesquite. My wife, Linda, would be my co-pilot.  [Read more]
