The new officers of the League of Women Voters of Mesquite for 2013-14 were installed at their last meeting before summer, a luncheon held at Hugo's on Saturday, May 11.

The Desert Dames Hiking Group lived up to its name when they trekked to the little-known, yet world-renown earth art sculpture, Double Negative, on Friday, May 10. Taking advantage of their last opportunity for moderate hiking temperatures, Joyce Sutherland, Pauline Holder, Lee Pfliger, Joanne Swallow, Kim Finnegan, Mary Jane Krupski, Jan Middleton and Linda Faas came to see the curious sight, long forgotten by most residents of Mesquite.
